The Mexican Poncho has been around for a while and has been a favourite among individuals from all generations. Only recently however, has the fashion industry taken a keener interest in this comfortable cover up. The poncho made it’s appearance on the runway in 2011 with designers like BCBG , Altuzarra and Rag & Bone offering up high end versions to the humble poncho. It wasn’t long before celebrities had taken up the trend and it has begun to thrive. The poncho recently featured in Tom Ford’s 2013 Fall Collection, a sign that the poncho has established itself as a style statement.

Kate Hudson made waves back in 2010 when she showed up at the Tribeca Film Festival in a black and white poncho by Louis Vuitton, over a form fitting little black dress. With so many celebrities taking to ponchos and so many interesting designs featured on runways and in department stores, it’s safe to say the poncho is here to stay. Maybe it’s time to get some authentic mexican poncho.
